Sassy Cheryl's # 155 Don't Be Blue

Don't Be Blue...spring is coming, really, it is!  This week's challenge is MONOCHROMATIC featuring the color BLUE.  This big old comfy chair just asks to be paper peiced so that, of course, is what I did!  Sally is enjoying her latest novel while munching on some chips, and Bella is curious!

I made a mini scene-"wallpaper" backdrop and the window, a Memory Box die.  I used a bit of law for the curtain---she must be a Gramma's because her Mom would never have that frilly stuff over the window!

Just a reminder, Sassy Cheryl is closing her digi shop in favor of her new and improved and oh, so lovely new shop that currently features all her most recent and/or requested digs.  she may, at some pint, offer rubber stamps, too!  If you act quickly, you may be able to do what I call "bottom fishing."  There are some GREAT deals to be had at SassyCherylsDigis-she is closing out her bargain bins with the closing of that shop and for just a couple more days, you can take advantage of these great prices.  when they're gone, they are GONE!

Come on now, play along!  You could WIN not one, but 2 Sassy images-doesnt get much better than that!

The challenge at A Day for Daisies is to use die cuts so I pulled out 4 of them to create this!    My DP is  Authentique, Delightful and My Mind's Eye, The Sweetest Thing.  I colored this little cutie with Copics!  I did some fussy cutting, cutting out all the images and then popped them on the card!

Chalenges I plan to enter with this card:

Sassy Cheryl's #154-Sketch!

This week , Dawn has created a sketch for us to use for the Sassy Cheryl's challenge.
I love a sketch-makes live easy, doesn't it?!

This little gal is Maddie, the latest in the Sassy collection and she "lives" at Sassy Cheryl's
BRAND NEW STORE: SASSY CHERYL'S STAMPS,
found HERE.  Sassy Cheryl is closing her store labeled, "Sassy Cheryl's Digi Store."
The new store is fabulous!!!

She's moving (just like me-I'm here full time now-the Typepad blog is closing!!!)  Alas, the bargain bins will NOT be making the move so if there is anything in the bargain bin you've postponed buying, do it now!  As of March 1st, the bargain bins are gone.

I did a bit of paper piecing for this challenge-just haven't done it for a while!  I also stitched -though I'm not sure you can see that.  I colored with Copics.  This image comes with two sentiments and some other little extras-cute, huh!

Do join us this week.  I'd love to see what you're up to!

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #153: With Love

Judy is our hostess for this week's challenge, and she's asked us to use a heart(s) on our card...okie dokie!  About covered it with my DP but decided at the 11th hour to add this little felt heart (Michael's) By now, surely you've heard that Sassy Cheryl has opened a second store for Sally and friends.  You can find it HERE.http://www.justbeingsally.com/collections/new  BUT, don't forget the other shop: found HERE: http://www.sassycherylsdigis.com/store/.  Mz. Phindy's Place-New Friends

One of my first design team gigs was with Phindy's Place.  Phindy is primarily an illustrator and has many children's books to her credit.  She turned out digi images fast and furious for a while, but life happens.  This is her most recent image-I just couldn't resist!  I have almost ALL of Phindy's digis.  This has to be on my top ten!  This precious tot is Phindy's darling little grand daughter.  I'm so glad she shared this little cutie with us.

I colored with Copics and used a Memory Box die (the fence).  My DP is new!  It's TRUE LOVE by Basic Grey---I'm a sucker for Basic Grey-saw it, had to have it!

I plan to enter these challenges:
Challenges 4 Everybody - 2W, 3C - Always Anything Goes
One Stitch At A Time - SIO - Anything Goes
BasicGrey - 2W, SIR (must use a basic grey product) - #87 (W1 of 2) Your Favourite ... (see challenge for full details)

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me Thursday

This is a vision board-really?!  A vision of what?  I had a prompt-cut out pictures and words that appeal to you.  No rhyme or reason for any of these choices, really...unless my subconscious was at work.  My resources-magazines-were somewhat limited and therefore, dictated some my choices.  I've thought of redoing this, but the only magazines I have left are crafting magazines.  While I want to "invite" creative crafting into my life, that isn't my whole picture.

Now, if I look at this and try to analyze my choices after the fact, I see some themes: creativity, learning, self-acceptance, spirituality...

I cut out pictures of babies, puppies and kittens, but I'm way past having babies (oh, but my grand baby...JOY!) and we have a full compliment of dogs and cats---not inviting any more critters into my world right now! None of those pictures made the board.

I wanted to find pictures of multigenerational family dinners-I DO want to invite that into my life!  Piles of money would be nice.  Money does NOT buy happiness and can even create its own problems---or so I've been told, but I'd like some piles so I didn't have to worry about my old age, so I could help my kids get established... but I didn't find any pictures of money and really, would I have pasted that to my board?  Hmmm...  I don't know-mute point!

My base is a piece a cardboard-kind of ragged on the sides, giving it an artsy look!  I started to get a little too obsessive about clean cut pages so started to throw caution to the wind---a little bit!

I've challenged my daughters to create their own vision boards.  This is not a new process to them and they look very carefully for their pictures unlike Momma, here, who went purely on attraction.   I can't wait to see what they come up with!

If you want to create a vision board but want a better sense of what they are supposed to be, just google Vision Board.  You'll find plenty of links-among them Oprah's site.

So, Mz. Sassy Cheryl, this is what I worked on this week-one of the many things!  And this is what makes me oh, so happy right now...I've printed a ginormous copy of this and posted it right under my vision board...

HAVE YOU HEARD?

So, HAVE YOU HEARD?  Sassy Cheryl has opened a new store, another store, one devoted to SALLY and her besties, JUST BEING SALLY.  Coincidently, I've decided to try out blogger.  I've been over at Typepad for a number of years now, but thought I'd give blogger a whirl.

The Sassy Cheryl's challenge this week is "Back to Nature" and this little Sassy Sally seemed like the perfect match.  I hope you'll join us this week for the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge found HERE.  The lucky winner gets two fabulous Sassy digis.

I colored this little cutie with Copics and used a My Mind's Eye DP pad.

I'm Getting Serious...

So, I'm getting serious about moving this blog or so it would appear.  I just paid Karen Giron to make me a new watermark.  Yes, I'm sure I could do it, but for $2.00---well, she does a beautiful job, and I don't have to fuss and fight with my computer.  I'm testing out this watermark on a Sassy Cheryl image-cutie patootie, Sassy Sally....

I colored with Copics and used a Martha Stewart DP.  The felt do-hickie (one of my mother's favorite expressions!) is from Michael's.  You can find this image at Sassy Cheryl's.

I plan to enter this n the following challenges:
Created With Love - 3E, C10 - Valentine's Day
Lexi's Creations - 2W - (1st week) Valentine / Love
Tammy's Scrapin Corner - 2E on anything goes weeks - Valentine cards

A Day For Daisies

I'm a big fan of ADFD designs and have amassed quite a large collection.  that doesn't seem to keep me from wanting and ultimately acquiring more!  Recently, I saw these images of mothers with their children and knew I'd wind up getting some.  Isn't it amazing how some well placed lines can totally convey a feeling?

I have five children, three of them daughters, all of them now grown.  The memories of the tender moments of their childhood move me to tears of pure joy.  Now, mind you, we had those really unpleasant "moments" (seriously, I think in some cases, YEARS!) of adolescence, but now that they are grown, I remember those with humor and a wash of relief that we ALL survived them!

Here we are---the brunette and very blond, my twins, and then my eldest daughter---the girls are truly this beautiful.  I only wish this were an accurate representation of me, but it'll have to do :-)

My young niece is the mother of three munchkins-her eldest a girl, then a little girl and finally a baby boy.  So, when I saw this image, I had to get it and color it up for her!  Perfect!

and finally, the series...I had the Copics collected, the Basic Gray pad in hand, so "I went to town!"

Challenges I plan to enter:
613 Avenue Create - Anything Goes (twist: Love)
Challenges 4 Everybody - 2W, 3C - Always Anything Goes
Dream Valley Challenges - 2W, 3E - (1st week) Valentines (ends 16th Feb)

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me Thursday

...and yes, I know it's Saturday!  I'm not that far gone-yet!  In any case, my post found on my Typepad blog  (yup, I'm trying blogger on-seeing if I'm going to move over here for good !), won last week so I took some of those BIG winnings and headed over to Sassy Cheryl's latest blog, JUST BEING SALLY, one that features Sally and her pals, Bella, Bandit, Noah and maybe, Charlie.  There are 6 images over there last I checked and every single one of them fell into my shopping cart-and why not for the introductory price of $2.00!

My DP is My Mind's Eye.  I colored with Copics and used a rubber stamp sentiment and a dash of doodling!  Isn't she the sweetest thing?  And, GREAT advice-just be yourself!

Mainly Mo

I love Mo Manning's images.  She was one of the very first digital designers I ran across.  I was among the first to join her little group at Paper Craft Planet which grew like topsy.  Once, I even got brave enough to apply for her design team.  Oh, well...  I decided not to feel too badly about this.  Her design team is amazing, an uber talented group whose cards are full of flair!  I tend to create simple cards-my first love is coloring.  I did go flowery-not well, but I tried, and I found the cards were ridiculously expensive to send so I've maintained my simple style.  Besides, this is who I am!

Recently, I was on coloring binge.  I created several Mo cards...

Challenges I plan to enter:

Catch The Bug - 3E, SIO - Anything Goes
One Stop Craft - 2E W - #214 Anything goes

Let's See How This Goes...

I've been a Typepad user for a number of years.  I tried out blogger once---  It was a long time ago.  But, I still have the name, and the blog, so I'm considering moving.

Argh, moving-I hate moving!  It means sorting through stuff, packing it up, sending out change of address info...is it worth it?  Well, it could be!  Perhaps it's time to downsize to something a bit more manageable, something that is FREE!!  Whoo hoo-free!  I look at what I'm now doing and wonder why?!  I'm not running a business here-just sharing my crafty playtime fun and bits and pieces of me.

I started my blogging career when my eldest daughter introduced me to the world of blogging.  She had a blog with Typepad.  It was short-lived, but I so loved it.  She is a terrific writer with a great sense of humor, and I just loved reading about her adventures and thoughts.  But, as so often happens, she tired of it, and decided not to continue.

My first real dabbling in the land of blogs was shortly after losing both my father and son, and then being uprooted to a new city and state where I knew no one!  I also had to give up my job, a career.  Starting over in a new locale was daunting, and honestly, I had neither the energy nor the desire to do what it took to even put myself out there.

Scrapbooking was my passion back then-just loved it!  My husband encouraged me to try a business.  Well, I had no idea where or how to begin, so I didn't.  I scrapped and showed my work on my blog, wrote about some of my life experiences and worked on healing my shattered heart.

After a year of this, I did re-enter the work force-pretty low key, but it took up most of my days because whatever I do, I do with my whole being!  I directed a small Christian preschool---and this is when the really healing began.  Small children brought joy to this slowly mending heart.

We are folks of a certain age, so stuff happened-hard life stuff.  My mother in law, a remarkable woman in her 100th year, finally began to wear out, and we took her into our home for the last months of her life.  Just months after she died, my dear mother had a nearly fatal illness which precluded her living independently.  So, once again, I packed my bags and moved to a new town to care for my mother giving up the little job that I loved.  My dear husband supported this move visiting as he was able until his retirement when he, too, joined us.

When I first arrived here, I had little to work with, and I had to be close by my mother so I took up card making.  I could do that on a tv tray (funny-now I'm sprawled over an entire room!)  I got hooked on blogs, rubber stamps, was introduced to digs, design teams and Copics...  My world was rather small, but the Internet allowed me to make friends with some remarkable like-minded ladies.  We are a Sassy group, and recently had the opportunity to meet for REAL!  May I just say, some of the BEST people ever!

Now, it's 2013.  My dear mother is no longer with us-my poor heart crumbled once again.  BUT, God is good and HOPE is everywhere.  One of my darling daughters married and blessed us with a beautiful granddaughter-now, this is JOY!

I've served on a number of design teams.  For a while, almost too many design teams.  I never applied for a team unless I LOVED the stamps (I'm picky-what can I say?!).  Some of the designers I worked with have discontinued their teams...it happens.  People move on.  But me, I'm still coloring up a storm and scrapbooking, too!  I have made albums for people---but out of love and not for $$$.  I have a wonderful space, all my own, where I spend many hours a week creating with a purring cat in my lap!

There you have it-a little back story,  Now let's see if I actually move this time :)
