Sassy Cheryl's #159 Favorite Color Combo

So, this week at Sassy Cheryl's, Mz. Sassy Cathy wants us to use our favorite color combo.  I've said it before and I'll say it again--I don't have a favorite.
I like several---but you've got to love
RED, BLACK & WHITE!

This little gal just tickles me pink-er, RED!  She's colored in Copics.

Now, this is something, I don't often do---a finished inside!  Some of the other Sassy gals are as famous for the insides as the outs...not me!  I decided to step up and just do it!

Now, a few of my Sassy pals are mighty good with Prismas and Faber Castells.  I am NOT, but this week, I thought I'd try, again.  Every attempt confirms I am a Copic fan---they just work, what can I say?!  In any case, I colored up this same image and did make it into a card, so here it is...

...and, then, again, I finished the inside!  I know, what's come over me?!

So, there you have it-my favorite color combo for this week.

I hope you join us this week for the Sassy Cheryl's challenge!

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me Thursday

Busy week, here.  I've been in an ADD mode, flitting from project to project.
Nothing is DONE, but everything is well underway!

I finally decided to tackle this quilt pattern that I purchased last year from Eat Cake Graphics.  First, the fabrics...well, that was an adventure and a rather expensive undertaking, but now I'm committed to this project!  I spent several days tracing, cutting, ironing pattern pieces...
All nine blocks are reading to be appliquéd.  I'm not trying the technique included with the pattern-though I know it would make for a beautiful quilt...but I would like to finish this in my lifetime and am afraid I'm just not ready for that technique so plan to zig-zag!
I hope to start the zig-zag project next week!  In the meantime, I was pleased to have accomplished the first steps!

Then, I decided to smock.  This is a great sitting in front of the t.v. project.  My husband really likes me to sit with him at night in front of the t.v.  Since I now have my days more or less at my disposal, I try to accommodate this simple request, but honestly, so often, I feel like I'm wasting time!  For the last couple of days, my husband was out of town so one night I went to the movies with a girlfriend and the other two, I worked on piecing the quilt so I haven't quite finished this first smocking project.

I'm getting there!

Now, today, in between chores, I'm card making but you won't see the fruits of my labor 'til challenge time!  You Prisma-Faber Castell ladies, not feeling it!  I tried, but well, was happy to jump back to my lovely Copics!

Oh, and did you hear Sassy Cheryl's BIG news---she has created some rubber images for those of you die hards that prefer rubber over digi-me, I love them all!  She' starting small with two limited editions so if you want them, run on over and pre-order them!  They are available HERE.

Sassy Cheryls Show Me Thursday

Yeah, yeah, I know, it's Monday night, but I DID do this on Thursday while in Florida!
(I wear PolarTec even in Florida.  It was chilly.  What can I say?)

We spent 12 days in Fl starting in Miami, visiting Key West, then ending up on the West Coast.  We traveled with dear friends and met up with friends as well.  We saw so much, ate too much, strolled the beaches (wearing that very jacket---it was windy!), did a little shopping...

Thursday was craft day. The husbands played golf; the ladies visited Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and an awesome fabric store.  One of the women is a quilter-oh, the quilts she has made!  I am in awe.  She decided it was time I learn to appliqué so with her guidance, this is what I created.  It's slow going, but I felt pretty good about my first attempt.  I have a pattern waiting --- it's BEEN waiting for a year!

Ready, set, go...

We're home now.  I've been wanting to sew, again, and this lady so inspired me!  My darling daughter, the new Momma, has asked me if I'd smock a dress for the baby.  After looking at little $85.00 dresses in FL,  I came home and pulled out my 30 year old pleater. I was sure the roller bar was bent, but I could never get rid of it.  It's moved with us several times though it hadn't been used since my youngest girls we're preteens!

After talking to my multi-talented, super creative friend, Shirley, of Tangents from Tazmania fame, I decided to take it apart, clean it up, examine and order new needles...see if I could get that machine working again.  YEAH!!!  After nearly 20 years of not smocking, I've pleated up two dresses for my dear little grand baby.  Let the smocking begin :-)

So, my friends, that's what I've been up to---what have you been up to?

Sassy Cheryl: #157: Green, White & Orange

Jackie is our hostess this week.  St. Patrick's Day is coming!  This challenge covers all of your Irish friends using GREEN, WHITE & ORANGE!!!  Just so happens, I had the perfect DP right on hand with just those colors-not to St. Patrick's Day-but then, that isn't the challenge so I'm good!

This cutie is colored with Copics.  I did a little stitching, tied a bow and popped on a few brads.

Remember to visit Cheryl's AWESOME new store---every time I visit, another little cutie jumps into my cart and comes right on home with me!

Sassy Cheryl #156: Fancy Flowers

This week's challenge is hosted by Pat, the lady with the beautifully embellished cards-oh, my goodness...I am in awe!  She asked us to use fancy flowers-I'm kind of a plain and simple girl-though I LOVE the gorgeous, embellished cards!  I just don't do well making them :-(

Fortunately, I had these pretty flowers in-house, a Michael's purchase.  MI colored this little doll with Copics and used a die for the flourish!  Now, really, it wasn't that complicated!
